For what it's worth, I just got one these as a gift, too, and I also found it very difficult to set up. And I'm a GEEK and a MAC user!

Eventually I figured out that I had to tell it to "join an existing wireless network" so that I could still use the wifi that connects me to the Internet. But then when I restarted my router, everything went kablooey and I had to start all over again. It seems to be working now, but I'm holding my breath...

I'm sorry it gave you such a hard time, Ruby--but knowing that even you found it difficult to set up makes me feel a little better ;-)

I'm just really disappointed with Apple's documentation here. The materials that come with the device are crap, and the info on their site isn't much better.
