Wayfaring is a neat little mapping mashup that allows you to use Google Maps data to create your own web maps, with routes, notes, and "waypoints," i.e. those upside-down teardrop shapes. Great concept, slick Web 2.0-ish site, but the execution is clunkier than I expected. Or maybe I'm just stupid. But I do love the idea and hope to get some real use out of it. You can make your maps public or private, allow others to edit them or lock them down. One really nice feature is that it'll tell you the mileage of your route--very helpful when Google Maps directions just won't cut it. The pic above? My sorry-ass 3-mile jog in Golden Gate Park--and even that feels like a long ways these days.
