You can see all three above, in a shot Amy took in 2014 while we were driving home from a particularly special trip to the Mendocino coast. At the time I noted, "This year has been hard on us, as individuals and as a couple, and it's reminded me (yet again) that 1) a good marriage takes work, and 2) there's no one I'd rather do that work with. The trip to Mendocino and our visits to Big Sur and Stinson Beach renewed my love for the great state of California, and even after 24 years I feel so lucky to live here."
It makes me smile to read that today, for a number of reasons: If I thought 2014 was hard, I'm not sure how I survived 2016, but somehow I did--yay me. Good marriages absolutely take work, and Amy and I did some of the best work of our lives this year--yay us. And I continue to feel lucky to be here--on this planet, and in the great state of California, more so now than ever--yay all of us.
