If you know someone who's about to enter the working world--particularly an undergraduate embarking upon a job search or a recent grad beginning a professional role--I highly recommend these two books.
Art of the Job Search: A Step-by-Step Guide to Finding the Job You Love, by Heather Hund, and Indispensable: How to Success at Your First Job and Beyond, by Meredith Whipple Callahan, offer complementary views on how to 1) launch one's career and 2) insure that it gets off to a successful start.
Full disclosure: I know Heather and Meredith personally, thanks to our time together at Stanford, and I hold them both in the highest regard, but I wouldn't recommend their work if I didn't think it could be truly valuable to a reader. While both books provide detailed, actionable guidance for the job-seeker and early career professional, they're also written from a perspective that Heather and Meredith share as mid-career leaders who are seasoned enough to be credible while retaining a deep understanding of the challenges faced by people who are just starting out.
